Le Cercle 4 avril Les Assises

Engagement

In 2024, "Half the world's population of voting age will be called to the polls in free elections or in elections that have already been decided in advance", Le Monde, 6 January 2024. The risks are immense: disinformation campaigns, hacking of results, geopolitical upheavals, etc. In this context, democratic commitment takes on all the more meaning and importance!

For this Cercle, we invite you to (re)discover the notion of commitment:

First part: an exclusive talk by Christine Ockrent, journalist and writer

  • Commitment in the service of information: at a time when sources and channels are multiplying, and generative AI is opening wide the doors to disinformation, the press is under scrutiny and all the more central for it. What is the role of the journalist today? To make the news accessible... without compromising its quality... while encouraging the desire to understand. It is more difficult, more criticised, more attacked, but the journalist's commitment in 2024 is the safeguard of our societies.

Second part: a round table discussion with Eric Freyssinet, Scientific Director, Office of the Director General of the Gendarmerie Nationale and Olivier Ligneul, Director of Cybersecurity, EDF Group

  • The necessary commitment from cybersecurity players to anticipate the impact of this high-risk year. Governments and public organisations are going to be put to the test in 2024, but attackers have long understood that they don't have to go after the obvious targets alone. Destabilisation comes from speed and volume: apply the butterfly effect principle to cyber security, imagine a multitude of structures and industries under attack, and calculate the short- and medium-term consequences... society as a whole is rapidly destabilised. Against this backdrop, CISOs and players in the ecosystem need to put themselves "under stress" and commit themselves to serving the community. Reservists will be present at the Cercle, in uniform, during the conference and the cocktail reception, to share their experience with participants.

Le cercle 6 février good

6 February 2024

Breathe in, breathe out... play!

What better subject than esport to bridge the gap? It's a discipline that's exploding, and an attack surface that's bound to arouse the curiosity of the Assises community...

During this session of the Cercle, we'll be taking you through the mysteries of esport, from its strategic and societal challenges to its business and entrepreneurial issues. On 6 February, we'll tell you all about esport.

Interviewed by Charlotte Bricard, Editorial Director of INfluencia, we invite you to discover..:

  • A business vision of Esport with sector prodigy Nicolas Maurer, CEO and co-founder of Team Vitality, at the head of France's biggest e-sport club at just 37 years of age.
  • A societal vision of esport with Nicolas Besombes, a lecturer and researcher at Paris Cité University renowned for his expertise in the French esport ecosystem and his contributions to research into e-sports and their societal impact.
